Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
MyCarGuy ("we", "us") helps drivers in Canada find honest mechanics. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. We follow Canada's PIPEDA principles.
Information we collect
- Account info: your email (and optional name) when you sign up, via our auth provider (Supabase).
- Content you submit: reviews, questions, price reports, vehicles, and shop details if you manage a shop.
- Location: a postal code or city you enter, or your device location only if you grant permission, used to find nearby shops.
- Usage signals: basic interaction events (e.g. profile views, contact clicks) to give shop owners aggregate lead stats.
How we use it
- To operate the service: search, reviews, Q&A, dashboards.
- To route questions to nearby shops and notify shop owners.
- To send transactional emails (e.g. lead alerts) you can opt out of.
- To prevent spam, fraud, and abuse.
Sharing
We don't sell your personal information. Content you post publicly (reviews, questions, answers) is visible to others. We use service providers (e.g. Supabase for database/auth, Netlify for hosting, our email provider) who process data on our behalf. Map and shop data include contributions from OpenStreetMap contributors.
Your choices & rights
You can access, correct, or delete your account data, and request a copy, by contacting us at info@mycarguy.ca. You may withdraw location permission anytime in your browser settings.
Retention & security
We keep data only as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations, and protect it with access controls and encryption in transit. No method is 100% secure.
