Why can the engine run in my 2023 Accord Hybrid even when I expect electric driving?

  The hybrid system chooses how to use its gasoline engine, generator, electric motor and high-voltage battery for the driving conditions. The engine can supply the generator as well as help propel the car; engine operation alone is not proof of a fault. Warning messages, abnormal smells or unusual noises still warrant inspection.
